Biofeedback Useful for Athletes
Biofeedback is a technique that is used to measure bodily functions such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature, and muscle tension. It teaches you how to alter these functions through the technique of relaxation or imagery.
In simple terms, it is a behavior-training method which is used to help teach people to control their reactions and improve concentration and focus.
This technique according to researchers is extremely useful for athletes. It helps them to regulate their stress levels, deal with pain that comes with constant wear and tear of muscles and overcome various other limitations.
Also through the use of neurofeedback techniques, athletes can literally re-program their brain patterns thus allowing the brain to form new neuronal pathways. This will be helpful in enhancing their performance.
Our brain has certain patterns which helps us reach our goals and achieve our personal best. Studies have shown that at the moment of perfect execution or movement, the brain has a very specific EEG pattern that can be trained. Biofeedback tools are very helpful to athletes as it helps them clear the mind, develop focus and increase concentration.
