Biofeedback and Childbirth
Pregnancy and childbirth are the two most important phases in a woman’s life. Every woman wishes to undergo safe and smooth childbirth. For a smooth and easy labor gynecologists many times advices to take alternative therapies like biofeedback, meditation, etc. Now the question arises is how biofeedback can help during childbirth?
Before answering this question lets define biofeedback. Biofeedback can be defined as an alternative therapy in which the patient is trained to regulate certain physiological conditions like muscle tension, blood pressure, etc. to promote relaxation. Biofeedback during pregnancy is effective in relieving pregnancy symptoms like:

According to a research study conducted by Duchene, childbirth classes plus biofeedback significantly reduces the pain and induces natural childbirth.
Electromyographic or skin conductance method is used as biofeedback method during childbirth. The research study also showed a reduction in the usage of epidural anesthesia among women undergone biofeedback before childbirth. Hence it can be said that biofeedback is effective in smooth and easy childbirth.
